One never knows why something is good …

15.01.2008

A friend of mine writing a book lost his notes that he was working on the whole year. While still in shock reflecting on this it crossed my mind that there must be something good about it?!

The more time passes, the more I believe that one never knows why something is good. What seems to be bad at first sight, might turn out to have had a good purpose in the end. An illustration: my favourite leather Mona bag was stolen recently in Paris with all my stuff inside -documents (passport, visa), platinum necklace, money, make-up, camera, rather new mobile phone. "What the hell can be good about all this", one wonders? I could not understand the day I was robbed either.

However, only a month later I can say that I have some clue about what. First of all, I got everything that was in the bag (only three times better and brand-new) from my friends and family for my 30th birthday. Granny gave me her medallion necklace that she kept for a long time (the one stolen was a present from my former employer when I graduated). Mona made the same bag especially for me (as the whole collection was sold out) at no extra cost. My friends bought make-up (the one in the bag was getting old and my lipstick was falling out). They also bought a wonderful pink Sony touch screen camera (the old one was badly damaged as it was dropped dozens of times), as well as a fantastic video camera and a Nokia mobile phone. In addition, on the way back from the police station (where I reported the theft) in some small street at Pigal I found a big size female shoe shop, probably for transvestites :-) , but quite trendy (rare for big size). How else could I have found out about this street?  and not to mention that while talking about the way I was robbed I also met a person living in Paris who had three pairs of 43 size female shoes and didn't know what to do with them :)...

Furthermore, the fact that my passport was stolen made me go to Serbia to get a new one (I used temporary travelling doc. to come home). The result of the trip - I was relaxed, enjoying time with my family and only a few best friends. After all the hassle and rush that I'm always into when at home, my dearest people were delighted that we finally spent some quality time together... And guess what else? I even signed the contract with a well-established Serbian association which would provide a regular wage. If I had a passport I would have gone to some other country and nothing like this would have happened...

Back to my friend and his lost notes. If he doesn't find them, it was meant to be. The chances are his conclusions were wrong, or he could elaborate better on the issues concerned, or maybe come up with something new in the research to be redone...
