Art Delights

For many years I was wondering why there is a term "fine arts" when that is pleonasm, art being by itself fine and beautiful.

The more time passes, I'm no longer convinced that "beaux arts" is superfluous or pleonastic. In the post modern world of art that disturbs, we're rarely faced with art that is only beautiful, art which only delights.
